Little Athletics Events Tips

Little Athletics NSW has put together a series of Basic Event Fact Sheets and videos, aimed at providing centre volunteers with the essential knowledge for helping at an event at the local centre.

For a quick overview the following video is a great reference:

Fact Sheets

Fact Sheets

The fact sheets are a suitable resource for people with little or no knowledge of the sport and cover such things as:

  • ages and correct specifications for the various age groups

  • basic instruction on how to do the event

  • basic rules

  • basic officiating procedures

  • safety considerations

  • handy tips for conducting the event at centre level

Please note that LANSW have changed some details such as shot put weights etc, however these facts sheets are still a great resource in getting to know the basics.

You can download copies of the Fact Sheets, by clicking on the links below.

Twilight Multi Events

TWILIGHT COMBINED EVENTS

Twilight Combined Competition

Club Twilight Combined Competitions will be held in the second half of the season for our club members to allow athletes extra opportunity for competition.

This year's dates are:

Tuesday 4th October 2022- 6pm

Tuesday 15th November 2022- 6pm

Tuesday 24th January 2023 - 6pm

Tuesday 21st February 2023 - 6pm

A Combined competition is where athletes compete in 5 different events in succession and their results are converted to points using the LAANSW Combined event tables. The events are great fun and help prepare athletes for the Zone and State Combined competitions.

The following Combined event format will be used during a twilight competition:

All three Field Events are run from 6:00pm-8:00pm. It is the athlete’s responsibility to ensure they compete in all five events during the allocated times.

The athlete with the highest number of points accumulated at any one twilight competition from their age group will win the Age Group Combined Champion Award.

* Athletes can only enter each event once during the evening.

* Accumulated points must all come from one evening.

There are no Championship points awarded at Twilight Combined competitions and club records cannot be broken, except for the overall Club Combined record.
